Sanctity of Human Life Sunday was originally developed by the Christian Action Council. The idea was to designate a time for ministers and congregations to unite and focus on the value of human life. Traditionally, the day chosen to celebrate the Sanctity of Human Life has been the Sunday nearest the anniversary of the Roe v Wade decision (January 22, 1973). But many denominations have set aside the third Sunday in January to recognize Sanctity of Human Life Sunday.
